Desktop PC memory change and problem?
i want to change my desktop pc's memory.
i ran a system information and it says the memory type is SDRAM
System Name: Dell DE051
Processor Name: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 3.06GHz
Videocard Name: Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller
Installed Memory: 509.98 MB *
this are the mais specs are they good???

i was wondering if i could change the SDRAM to a DDR2 ram chip
replace the SDRAM 512mb with a 2g DDR ram instead?
would there be a problem that the sytem wont reconize the memory or its just aint gona work and i have to replace with the SAME TYPE MEMORY?? ( SDRAM )

A) Are your specs good
They are reasonable but the memory should be 1GB for XP, 2GB for VIsta
B)Can you change SDRAM to DDR?
Nope, this is because they are Key coded, meaning that they have a notch in different places. Even if you got pass that your motherboard wouldn't understand how to control DDR memory
C)How do you change RAM/memory in a desktop?
1)Open the case
2)Earth yourself (example touch a metal pipe like a tap) and dont wear something that creates static (like a wooly jumper)
3)Make sure you bought the correct type of SDRAM (or whichever RAM the motherboard takes)
4)Look for the RAM stick slots, which are usually paired (2 or 4 slots is normal)
5)If you want to remove a RAM module use the latches on either end to Unhook it first Then gently Holding The Edges (Not touching the black bits) pull upwards
6)To insert a RAM module make sure the KEY (the notch on the RAM module) matches the slot
7)align and push downwards
8)You may need to make sure the latches hook on to the Module
9)now start up and go into your bios and see if it displays the RAM that should be present
Example: 1 256MB and 1 512MB make 768MB, so Total memory should be shown as 768MB (or near that)
